Mediation, available in Pennsylvania since 1987, is one of the most recognized methods of alternative dispute resolution. Additionally, the Office for Dispute Resolution ( ODR ) provides other activities, designed to help participants work through a conflict effectively so that local resolution is possible.  Some of the positive side affects of successful local dispute resolution may be:

• Low to no cost for participatants
